Our Success Stories
Lucinda came to Pinnacle Learners in a moment of real stress. After completing her Year 12 Trials, she was sitting on a 70 in English Advanced — not enough to secure her dream course: Law at UNSW. Despite being bright and hardworking, Lucinda felt her writing wasn’t where it needed to be: she was confident in the content but struggled to express complex ideas. With the HSC fast approaching, time was running out. Over the course of just three months, we worked intensively with Lucinda focusing on:
Elevating essay structure and coherence
Building a sophisticated writing voice
Practising unseen and past HSC questions under timed conditions
Lucinda was one of the most driven students we’ve worked with and her commitment paid off. By the time the HSC came around, she had transformed into a confident, capable writer, scoring over 90 in English Advanced, and an ATAR high enough to secure her spot at UNSW Law. Today, she’s exactly where she dreamed of — studying law & thriving.

A 70 in English to UNSW Law
Chris joined Pinnacle Learners at the start of Year 11, enrolled in English Standard. While he had always shown potential, his marks (50–60%) and confidence didn’t reflect it. He felt unsure about how to develop ideas or express himself clearly in writing — and he dreaded assessments and completing homework.
From our first session, we worked to shift both skills and mindset. We focused on:
Breaking down essay structure in a way that clicked
Exploring texts deeply and building personal interpretations
Practicing responses in timed conditions to build stamina and flow
One of Chris’ biggest breakthroughs came when he realised that writing is a learnable process — not just a talent you’re born with. Once he understood how to organise his thoughts and back them with evidence, everything changed. By the end of Year 11, Chris had scored his first A in English and ranked 2nd in his cohort. He walked into Year 12 with newfound belief in himself — and a solid foundation to aim even higher.

From Struggling to A+ Excellence
When we first met Lachlan in Year 10, he was sitting in the 60% range for English — underperforming for his school, and more importantly, underperforming for his ability. He found English overwhelming, especially when it came to essay writing. His writing felt rushed, and he lacked the study habits needed to thrive in a high-performing environment. Together, we created a tailored plan focusing on:
Essay planning and breaking down complex questions
Building time management and study strategies
Developing stronger analytical responses and vocabulary
Within a single term, Lachlan’s results improved dramatically. He started scoring in the 80s, which led to his placement in English Advanced — a huge milestone for his confidence. As we continued working through Year 11 and 12, Lachlan built on this momentum, gaining confidence in his critical thinking and developed the discipline for sustained excellence. Now in Year 12, Lachlan is consistently achieving A grades and aspiring to study medicine.
