Lucinda came to us in a moment of stress: after completing her Year 12 trials, she was sitting on a 70 in English Advanced, not enough to secure her dream course of Law at UNSW. Despite being bright and hardworking, Lucinda’s writing wasn’t where it needed to be: she was confident in the content but struggled to express her ideas.
Over the course of just three months, we worked intensively with Lucinda focusing on elevating essay structure and coherence, building a sophisticated writing voice and practising unseen questions under timed conditions
By the time the HSC came around, she had transformed into a confident, capable writer, scoring over 90 in English Advanced, and an ATAR high enough to secure her spot at UNSW Law.

Chris joined Pinnacle Learners at the start of Year 11, enrolled in English Standard. His marks (50–60%) and confidence were low - he was unsure how to express himself clearly and dreaded completing homework.
From our first session, we worked to shift skills and mindset, focusing on breaking down essay structure in a way that clicked, and practicing responses in timed conditions to build stamina and flow
Once he understood how to organise his thoughts and back them with evidence, everything changed. By the end of Year 11, Chris had scored 90% in English and ranked 2nd in his cohort.

When we first met Lachlan in Year 10, he was sitting in the 60% range for English underperforming for his school and for his ability. He found English overwhelming, especially when it came to essay writing - he wasn’t sure how to structure his responses
Together we worked on essay planning and analytical writing skills, and created a plan to build time management and study skills, with a focus on developing stronger analytical responses.
Within a single term, Lachlan’s results improved dramatically. He started scoring in the 80s, which led to his placement in English Advanced. Now in Year 12, Lachlan is consistently achieving A grades and 90%.
